'Prolific shoplifter' arrested by Roscommon Gardaí

A "prolific shoplifter" was arrested by Roscommon Gardaí after he stole goods worth hundreds of euro in the county town.
Roscommon Gardaí said the "prolific shoplifter", who was wanted nationwide, made a “huge mistake” when he decided to visit Roscommon Town on Monday.
“He decided to help himself to a 100% discount to the value of €1,583.00 in a local shop,” they said. “But what he didn't know was that gardaí were out patrolling and caught up with him and found him in possession of more stolen property to the value of €1,000.00.”
The man was arrested, charged and brought before the courts the following morning, where he was remanded in custody.
