Bridie gives 57 years of dedicated service to Castlerea supermarket

After 57 years of dedicated service a Castlerea woman, known for her “kindness, warmth, honesty and incredible work ethic” has retired from Cahill’s SuperValu.
Bridie Ryan, Cloonbonniffe, Castlerea has been part of the Cahill’s SuperValu family for decades. “Today is a very emotional day for all of us at Cahill’s SuperValu as we say farewell to someone who has been much more than a member of staff – she has been part of our family,” said the Cahill family.
“After many years of dedicated service, Bridie is retiring. Bridie is truly one of a kind. Her kindness, warmth, honesty and incredible work ethic have made her a much-loved colleague and friend to generations of staff and customers alike.
“She has always gone above and beyond for everyone who walked through our doors, greeting people with a smile, a chat and a genuine interest in how they were getting on,” added the family.
“We know many of our customers came into the store specifically to see Bridie and would patiently wait in line for her till! We sincerely hope you’ll all continue to visit us now that she has retired, although we know there will never be another Bridie.
“Bridie was also a wonderful friend to Frank and Helen Cahill, who started the business. They always held Bridie in the highest regard and considered her not just an employee, but a valued member of the Cahill family. That feeling remains as strong today as it ever was.
“It is impossible to put into words the impact Bridie has had on our store, our staff, our customers and our family over the years. Her loyalty, dedication and friendship have helped shape Cahill’s SuperValu into what it is today.
“Bridie, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your many, many years of service, friendship and commitment. “You have touched the lives of so many people and leave behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.
“While we are incredibly sad to see you go, we are also delighted that the time has come for you to enjoy a well-earned retirement, to spend time with family and friends, and to do all the things you never had enough time for while looking after the rest of us. You will always be part of the Cahill family.”
