Civic reception for All-Ireland winning handballer

One of the county’s most talented young sportswomen will be honoured by Roscommon County Council.
The councillors of the Roscommon Municipal District voted at the May meeting for Fiona Tully of St Coman's Handball Club to be honoured at the next civic reception, following her win at the All-Ireland Ladies Handball Senior Singles 40x20 final in March at Croke Park.
The motion was tabled by Cllr Ruth Conboy, who said that the achievement came after many years of training, hard work, and huge support from the club, Kilbride GAA Club, and Roscommon GAA.
“It’s an incredible achievement,” she said and her proposal received unanimous support. Cllr Michael Holland agreed that it was a “fantastic” accomplishment and he congratulated both Ms Tully and St Coman's Handball Club.
“It is great to see the work that is going on there,” he said.
