The coldest overnight temperatures in the country were recorded by Met Éireann in County Roscommon, as they dipped to -6.6C in Mount Dillon.
Sub-zero conditions hit many areas across Ireland again with a Status Orange low temperature and ice warning remaining in place for 15 counties, including Roscommon, until 8 a.m. this morning.
A thaw is expected to set in over the weekend.
