Controversial festival will not go ahead in Drumshanbo community centre

The controversial Mise Éire’ festival due to be held on August 23rd next at the Mayflower Community Centre in Drumshanbo will not now go ahead, it has emerged.

In a social media message this morning, the Mayflower Community Centre CLG said: “We regretfully wish to inform the public that the upcoming ‘Mise Éire’ festival due to be held on 23rd August 2025 will NOT be hosted at the Mayflower Community Centre. This is due to terms & conditions not being complied with. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.” 

Hundreds of people from across the country had signed a petition calling for the ‘nationalist’ event, which had sold more than 400 tickets, to be cancelled.

Castlerea native John Waters was among the line-up of speakers.
