A Roscommon woman has been named on the Irish team to contest a prestigious international competition.

Olivia Costello of Roscommon Golf Club is part of the team announced ahead of the World Junior Girls’ Championship in Canada later this month.

Bridgestone Women’s Order of Merit winner Hannah Lee McNamara (Royal Portrush) will make the trip to Brampton Golf Club in Ontario alongside Flogas Irish Girls’ Amateur Open champion Olivia Costello (Roscommon) and West of Ireland Women’s Amateur Open champion Ella Cantwell (Esker Hills).

The event involves a 72-hole stroke play tournament, with individual and team events. Play gets underway from September 30th.

Prior to making the trip to Canada, the trio will also compete at the French International Women’s Amateur Championship this week. The 54-hole Stroke Play event takes place at Golf de Morfontaine in France, with the opening round getting underway on Thursday morning.
