County Roscommon meat company wins Outstanding Contribution To Local Business award

A South Roscommon based company picked up the Outstanding Contribution To Local Business Award at this year's County Roscommon Local Enterprise Awards.
Waldron Meats have been in business for 35 years and currently employ 23 people at their plant in Brideswell.
The company sells its products to over 200 outlets across all of the main retail multiples.
Representing the company at the awards ceremony, which took place in the Hodson Bay Hotel, were the company’s business development manager Amy Waldron,and commercial manager Cathal Waldron.
The company has a growing Irish and UK market, supplying products such as bacon, sausages and black and white puddings, not only to the retail sector, but to hospitals and large-scale catering outlets.
“We’re delighted to receive this award and we’re really grateful to LEO for the support that we receive. We initially received an exporting grant which allowed us to develop a good relationship with our suppliers which we continue to enjoy,” said Amy.
“We have also received considerable support and knowledge from LEO about sustainability which is a key part of what we now do as a company. We’ve also received other support such as social media marketing,” she explained.
“We’re determined to continue to grow our brand which will result in better recognition for the company. We have a regular presence at Bloom every June and recently received a gold medal at the Blas na hÉireann, National Food Awards in Dingle.
“We’ve also being recognised at the Taste of Ireland Awards and currently in receipt of gold membership as part of the ‘Origin Green’ initiative,” she said.
