County Roscommon teenager following in footsteps of Leona Maguire with major golfing championship win

Castlerea teenager Juliet Kenny (14) has secured the Connacht Girls’ U-18 Amateur Golf Championship Open Nett title for 2025. This same trophy was won by Leona Maguire in 2007.
Over Tuesday and Wednesday, Juliet, daughter of Kieran and Rachel Kenny, achieved a nett score of -10 at Ballinasloe Golf Club over the two days.
With none of the competitors who qualified to play in the third day of the gross competition (played today, Thursday) coming close to Juliet’s nett score, she was presented with the Connacht Girls U-18 Amateur Championship Open Nett winner’s trophy this afternoon.
“Such a proud day for Juliet, for her family and for Castlerea Golf Club,” said the club.
“The club will mark this very special achievement at our next presentation evening, which takes place on Friday, July 11th. In the meantime, hats off to Juliet - we are so very proud of you,” said the club.
