County Roscommon recorded one of the hottest temperatures in the country yesterday, as the recent sweltering weather came to an end.

The Met Éireann weather station at Mount Dillon marked a high of 28.5 degrees on Sunday afternoon. This was the second hottest temperature in the country, with Gurteen in County Tipperary recording a high of 28.6 degrees.

Today will be a cooler, fresher day in the province than recently with highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees. Tonight there will be showers or longer spells of rain, turning heavy and possibly thundery at times, with lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.
