Several homes in County Roscommon ransacked by burglars

A renewed appeal for information has been issued by by Gardai after a spate of burglaries in the county in in recent weeks saw several homes ransacked.

On December 21st Gardaí received a report of a break-in at Rackens, Curraghboy. The burglars forced open a back door and back window and ransacked numerous rooms in the house with an amount of cash taken.
A further burglary was reported when a homeowner at Whitepark, Curraghboy returned home to discover several windows had been forced open and every room in the house ransacked. An amount of cash and two firearms were taken during the raid.
A third break-in occurred on the same day at Lisnamucklagh, Dysart. The owner came back to discover the back door had been forced open. Every room in the house was ransacked. An amount of cash and jewellery were taken.
On December 15th Gardaí received a report from a homeowner at Culleen, Dysart that on his return to his home, which had been vacant overnight, it had been burgled. Entry was gained via a rear window causing minor damage. No items were taken.
A further report was received in relation to a burglary at a second property in the same area on the same day where the homeowner returned after a night away to discover that house had been burgled.
Another report was received in relation to a third property at Meenahabeen, Drum being entered. The homeowner returned home to find the window beside the front door smashed with entry forced through the front door. Nothing is believed to have been taken during this burglary.
Gardaí in Roscommon believe that one or two groups of people are responsible because of the similarities in the offences.
