The Ballaghaderreen Swimming Pool is scheduled to re-open by the end of this month, according to the Department of Integration.

In a brief statement issued this evening (Wednesday) to the Roscommon Herald, a spokesperson for the Department said: “The Department has been advised that the swimming pool is scheduled to re-open before the end of March”.

The swimming pool facility on the Sligo Road at the former Abbeyfield Hotel, which became an Emergency Reception and Orientation Centre (EROC) in 2017, was on the verge of reopening earlier this year.

However, an interested operator and the building’s owner failed to reach agreement on the terms of a contract and the talks broke down.

The planned reopening of the pool has been hit with a series of delays and has been closed since December 2022.
