Disappointment expressed after Palestine sign taken from park

Disappointment has been expressed after a sign pointing to Palestine was taken from The Demesne in Castlerea. The sign, which had also been covered with Israeli flags in previous months, was taken in recent days.
The incident has been described as “targeted”, as the sign pointing to Palestine was the only one taken from the signpost, with other cities from around the globe remaining untouched.
Christian Pye told the Roscommon Herald: “Last week the sign was up, and my sister had noticed over the last couple of months that someone had been putting up sticky Israeli flags all over the place.” On Monday Christian found the sign was missing when checking for it.
A Facebook post highlighting the issue read, “Real upsetting to see someone took down the Palestine post. Shame on you.” Castlerea Towns Trust and the gardaí have been made aware of the issue.
