Driver caught speeding in County Roscommon village during Garda road safety campaign

Gardaí detected more than 900 drivers for speeding offences while out on Irish roads over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
One of those drivers detected by gardaí using hand held speed detection technology was caught doing 81km/h in a 50km/h zone in Knockcroghery on the N61.
Throughout the May Bank Holiday Weekend, an extensive Garda Roads Policing Operation was in place between 7 a.m. on Thursday, May 2 and Tuesday, May 7.
There was one fatality on Irish roads during this period and nine serious injury collisions took place that resulted in ten people receiving serious and life-threatening injuries.
One person was arrested for intoxicated driving during each hour of the May Bank Holiday Road Safety Enforcement Operation.
