Family “heartbroken” after memorial bench vandalised

The family who installed a memorial bench in Castlerea to remember a loved one says it is “heartbroken” and “disgusted” after it was vandalised.
The seating part of the bench located in the Demesne area of the town has been defaced in a number of areas with scrawled, scratched writing.
A family member posted a message online to express her upset.
She said she wants the images posted “far and wide so whoever did it will see the damage they have caused by vandalising and disrespecting this memorial".
An appeal has also been issued for help to repair it.
“I am hoping it can be repaired. If there's anyone who works with stone and thinks they can help, please get in touch. Thank you.”
It’s understand the act of vandalism was committed within the last two weeks.
