Met Éireann has said that the fine, dry settled spell of weather will last until “at least to the end of next week.” Ireland is currently in the middle of an “Omega blocking high” weather pattern where two low pressure systems trap an area of high pressure into a shape of the Greek letter.

As a result, parts of the country, like County Roscommon are enjoying wall-to-wall sunshine, resulting in increased heat.

At 3 p.m., the temperature at the county’s weather station, Mount Dillon, was 22c, and could rise even higher over the coming days.
