Funding announced for three Family Resource Centres in County Roscommon

Funding of €30,000 has been announced for three Family Resource Centres in County Roscommon.
The centres in Ballaghaderreen, Boyle and Castlerea will each receive €10,000 as part of a new €1.36m national investment announced today by Minister for Children, Disability and Equality Norma Foley. The funding means each of the country’s 136 Family Resource Centres will receive a once-off €10,000 capital allocation.
Welcoming the funding for County Roscommon, Senator Gareth Scahill said that the centres “are at the heart of their communities and provide invaluable support to individuals and families. What is particularly positive about this funding is that each centre has the flexibility to decide where it can make the greatest difference locally.
“It can support improvements to buildings and accessibility, new equipment, technology, health and safety works and other practical upgrades. I know how hard the staff, volunteers and boards of our three Roscommon centres work, and I am delighted to see that work supported,” he said.
The wider regional allocation will also provide €60,000 to six Family Resource Centres in Galway, €80,000 to eight centres in Mayo, €30,000 to three centres in Leitrim and €30,000 to three centres in Longford.
“Family Resource Centres provide everything from family support and counselling to education, training, youth activities and practical assistance. This is funding that will be felt directly within our communities, and I will continue to support the important work being done by our centres across Roscommon and the wider region,” said Senator Scahill.
