Two projects in County Roscommon have received funding which could unlock the potential for the delivery of 1900 homes in the county.

Senator Gareth Scahill has welcomed the announcement that two local projects have been approved under the first call of the Government’s Housing Infrastructure Investment Fund.

He said the Ardsallagh More project will see the upgrade of the L-7097 road and the delivery of a new signalised junction on the N61, helping to unlock lands with the potential for approximately 700 new homes.

"Funding has also been approved for Phase 1 of the Lisnamult Outer Ring Road, connecting the route towards the Galway Road and opening up lands with the potential for a further 1,200 homes.

"While this first phase is significant in its own right, it also lays the groundwork for future phases that will have much wider benefits for the long-term growth and development of Roscommon Town.

"These projects are exactly what this fund was designed to support – providing the critical infrastructure needed to unlock housing development and remove barriers to delivery."

He added, "Congratulations to Roscommon County Council on the work undertaken to secure these projects. This is a significant investment in Roscommon’s future and a strong vote of confidence in the county’s continued growth.
