A man charged with the murder of his wife in Clifden last month has been found dead in Castlerea prison.

Ali Sohrabi (35) was found dead in his prison cell earlier today, Wednesday.

A Garda spokesperson told the Roscommon Herald that gardaí are investigating all the circumstances following the death this morning of an inmate, aged in his 30s, at Castlerea Prison.

“A post-mortem examination will take place in due course, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation,” said the spokesperson.

Foul play is not suspected.

Mr Sohrabi, of no fixed abode, had appeared before the courts following the woman’s death but had not yet entered a trial phase.
