The fatal road traffic collision occurred at Earl Street, Longford on Tuesday, April 28th.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred at Earl Street, Longford on Tuesday, April 28th.

At around 10 a.m., Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian (a man in his 80s) was airlifted to Beaumont for treatment of serious injuries but was pronounced dead yesterday evening, Tuesday, April 28th.

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage and were travelling in the area between 9.45 a.m. and 10.15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28th are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
