Gardaí investigating discovery of man's body in County Roscommon field

An investigation is underway following the discovery of a man's body in a field in North Roscommon on Friday night.

Gardaí have confirmed that the body of a man was discovered in the Ballyfarnon area of North Roscommon on Friday at around 8.30 p.m..

They say they are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body and a technical examination was carried out.

His remains were taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway, where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The local coroner has been notified.
