Gardaí issue advice to supporters ahead of Tyrone game

Roscommon gardaí are issuing advice to GAA supporters ahead of Roscommon’s game against Tyrone on Sunday afternoon at King & Moffatt Dr. Hyde Park.

Mark Dowd’s men play the Ulster visitors in Round 1 of the All-Ireland SFC with throw-in at 2 p.m.

Another large crowd is expected to converge in Roscommon Town and local gardaí have issued the following advice:

An Garda Síochána have a dedicated event management plan in place.

Please take note of a few important details before you arrive at the venue 

Event 

• Access & Safety Barriers: Barriers will be in place outside the venue for your safety. Gardaí and Stewards at these points will be checking for valid event tickets and helping guide the crowd safely toward the turnstiles.

• Crowd screening & searches: In the interest of everyone's safety, crowd screening and searches will be taking place. Please allow a little extra time to pass through.

• Strictly no alcohol or fireworks: This is a family friendly sporting event. We want to ensure a brilliant atmosphere for our youngest supporters. Alcohol, disposable drinks containers, and fireworks/flares are strictly prohibited and will be seized at the barriers.

Parking Guidelines

• Utilise public car parks in the town centre.

• Athlone Road: Strictly no parking permitted on majority of Athlone Road/adjoining estates. Gardaí will be in place to advise.

• Hannon’s Hotel: Be aware that Vehicles parked at this location will be directed out of town via the Golf Links Road.

• Circular Road: No parking on the circular road but permissible at adjacent car parks.

• Golf Links Road: Limited parking – Park facing outbound.

• Racecourse Road / Boyle Road: At permitted parking locations - Park facing outbound.

• Galway Road: Parking at permitted locations only - Park facing outbound.

Follow all steward/Garda instructions.

Key Reminders

Enforcement: Cars causing obstructions or parking illegally will be ticketed/towed.

Consideration: Respect local residents.

Security: Secure vehicles and keep valuables out of sight.

Patience: Large traffic volumes expected. Delays are unavoidable.

Alcohol & fireworks are strictly prohibited and subject to seizure.
