Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault in recent weeks on an elderly woman at a hostel in the county run by the mental health services.
Following the incident, involving another resident, gardaí confirmed to the Roscommon Herald that the woman, who is in her 70s, was taken to Sligo University Hospital.
She was treated for non-life threatening injuries, and gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
The hostel, which the Roscommon Herald understands has now been closed, had been open for approximately 30 years.
It caters for long stay residents under the care of the mental health services.
The woman had been living in the hostel at the time of the alleged assault with other residents, and is now recuperating at a nursing home.
The Herald understands that the other residents have been relocated, and the hostel is currently closed.
A spokesperson for the HSE said that it could not comment on the details of individual cases.
However, they said that the HSE West Northwest mental health service was fully committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all service users.
“Any allegation of assault is thoroughly investigated and notified to the appropriate agencies in line with policy.
“Protection measures are immediately put in place to ensure the safety of all involved where incidents of assault are alleged,” said the HSE spokesperson.
