Gardaí shut down ‘dodgy box’ streaming service for dozens of users

Gardaí have today shut down an illegal TV streaming service, which supplied dozens of users in the west.
As part of an operation, targeting illegal TV streaming services and money laundering offences, a house in the Rahoon area of Galway City was searched today, Friday, by members of the Galway County West Crime Unit, the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Garda National Cyber Crime Bureau.
Electronic devices were seized by Gardaí and almost 200 accounts, believed to be linked to an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) streaming service were shut down.
Today’s activity primarily targeted the streaming of SKY TV products.
Gardaí say that no arrests have been made at this time.
A file will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
