Garda forensic team carry out fresh examination at home of Liam Farrell

The late Liam Farrell.
A forensic examination by gardaí has been carried out at the home of the late Liam Farrell, the elderly Roosky farmer whose family believe died in violent circumstances more than four years ago.
Acting on “information from a third party”, it’s understood that a team of Garda crime scene investigators undertook a series of fresh examinations on the property in Aughamore, Roosky from early Saturday evening until about 1.30 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Mr Farrell’s family has called for a fresh Garda investigation into the case following a recent inquest into his death which recorded an open verdict.
The family was seeking a verdict of unlawful killing.
The inquest heard that the 87-year-old widower was found by his daughter at the back door of his home, covered in blood, with his shoes and socks removed, his watch broken and bruising to his left eye and his feet.
Speaking to the Herald on Monday, Brendan Farrell, one of Mr Farrell’s sons, said: “Investigating gardaí are waiting for the results of the forensic examination as the family are, but either way, we are still hoping Drew Harris will still open a fresh investigation into our father’s death.”
