Garda investigation underway after body of man is discovered

Gardai and emergency services are this evening at the scene of an incident on the Leitrim Road in Carrick-on-Shannon.
Gardaí in Carrick-on-Shannon along with local emergency services were alerted earlier this afternoon, February 4th, after the body of a man in his late 50s was discovered on lands in the Carrick-on-Shannon area.
His body has been transferred to the mortuary at University Hospital Sligo for a post-mortem examination.
Gardai told the Rocommon Herald that the local coroner has been informed, and the results of the post-mortem will guide the direction of the Garda investigation.
The scene is currently preserved for further examination.
