GE Roscommon Galway 2024: Eugene Murphy eliminated on the sixth count

Roscommon-Galway Independent candidate, Eugene Murphy.
After a good campaign, Eugene Murphy has been eliminated on the 6th count here in Roscommon Galway. The former FF TD and senator, and now independent candidate achieved a very respectable 5,779 in total votes.
Yesterday the Scramogue man acknowledged that he would not be elected, saying he had no regrets about his decision to break his lifelong connection with the party. He now intends to contest the forthcoming Seanad election.
SF’s Claire Kerrane, who picked up 220 votes from Arigna woman, Dympna Daly Finn, looks almost certain to be elected on the next count.
Dr Martin Daly is now on 8,372 and will most likely be elected on the next count too. He could benefit significantly from transfers from his former party colleague Mr Murphy. Senator Aisling Dolan looks very likely to come fourth in the election.
