Hundreds could be without power until 6pm

Hundreds of people locally could remain without power until this evening following last night’s storm.
On the Roscommon-Galway border there are many customers without electricity this morning, according to the ESB’s PowerCheck website.
In the Creagh area, 539 customers are without power, with power estimated to be restored by 6pm this evening. The outage was reported at 4.42 am this morning.
In the Ballygar area, a further 423 customers are affected. The power is expected to be restored by 6pm this evening.
In the Boyle area, over 100 customers are still without power since last night and their power is expected to be restored by 2pm this afternoon.
The ESB apologised for the loss of supply.
“We are currently working to repair a fault affecting your premises and will restore power as quickly as possible,” the company said.
In the Carrowkell area, 462 customers were without power from 4.15 am to 8.14 this morning following the thunderstorms. Other customers up and down the county have also been affected.
Met Éireann says it will be largely dry today with sunny spells in Connacht. There is a chance of an isolated light shower in the west. Highest temperatures will be between 17 to 20 degrees with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds in the morning, then easing light to moderate.
Tonight will become cloudy with outbreaks of rain or drizzle. Some mist will form too and lowest temperatures will be between 13 to 15 degrees.
