Local fundraiser set to raise over €20k for Roscommon branch of MS Ireland

Today marks the final Betty's Tea Day
A long running local fundraiser is set to raise a total of more than €20,000 for MS Ireland.
Today, the 10th and final Betty’s Tea Day will be held at Betty Duffy’s House, Kiltybranks, Ballaghaderreen, F45 HD88. Between noon and 6 p.m., there will be lots of traditional and delicious homemade goodies guaranteed throughout the day, and all in aid of the Roscommon branch of MS Ireland.
Since its first day in 2012, the popular local event has raised a total of €19,742.69 for the very worthy cause. Her daughter Teresa Cahill told the Herald that her mother, who is 81, loves the atmosphere and the buzz in her home on that day.
“I have some very good friends who also happen to be great bakers, Catherine, Jennifer, and Monica, so everything on the day is freshly homemade,” she said. “Also on the day, we would be lost without my sister Sandra and friend Lindsey who are chief hostesses on tea, coffee and washing up duties.” Teresa said that all the monies raised on the day will stay in County Roscommon to provide support to those in the county with multiple sclerosis. She also thanked everyone for their generous continued support.
“We couldn’t do this without you.” For those who would like to support the day but cannot make it, there is the ‘Betty's Tea Day’ iDonate page.
