Man arrested after drugs worth €33,000 seized in County Roscommon

A man was arrested on Wednesday evening after gardaí in Roscommon seized more than €33,000 worth of suspected drugs in Strokestown.
Shortly after 8,30 p.m. on Wednesday, Garda members attached to the Divisional Drugs Unit were on patrol when they stopped a vehicle on Main Street, Strokestown.
During a search of the vehicle, cannabis herb worth €28,000; cannabis resin worth €1,500; amphetamine worth €1,530; 'magic' mushrooms worth €1,750; LSD worth €230 and €260 worth of MDMA were discovered by gardaí.
€1,400 cash was also seized along with drug paraphernalia. The total value of the drugs seized is €33,270, subject to analysis.
The driver, a male in his 40s, was arrested at the scene for an offence contrary to Section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977-2016
He is currently detained at a Garda station in the North Western Region under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
The drugs seized will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
Investigations are ongoing.
