A 28-year-old man who admitted he was notified about his insurance cancellation was not disqualified from driving.
At a recent sitting of Strokestown District Court, Ion Cosmin Sau, with an address at 2 Alderford, Ballyfarnan, Boyle, was prosecuted for driving without insurance.
The incident happened on the R369 at Charterland or Windmill Park, Elphin on April 9th, 2025.
The court heard that the policy had been cancelled seven days before he was stopped.
Judge James Faughnan said that he has been told by the Motor Insurance Bureau that people are repeatedly informed if their insurance is about to be cancelled.
The accused admitted that he had been informed and the judge handed down a fine of €300 and no road disqualification.
