A probation report has been ordered for a 57-year-old who swore at and threatened a couple over a parking space.

David Doyle, with an address at 2 Lus Leana, Castle Street, Roscommon Town, had pleaded guilty to threatening the couple on September 8th, 2025 at Lus Leana, Castle Street.

The court heard that the accused produced an article, a red nail bar, in the course of the dispute, which he used to strike a post with during the incident. The accused was on a suspended sentence at the time.

The case appeared again before Judge James Faughnan at Roscommon District Court last week, where two victim impact statements had been prepared and were before the court.

Mobile phone footage of the incident was played for the court by arresting Garda Declan O’Loughlin. During the clip, the accused could be seen holding the nail bar and swearing at the couple. “Park there, not fucking here,” he was heard to say in the footage. The victims could also be heard apologising over the issue.

His solicitor Con Harlowe said his client apologised unreservedly for his behaviour. He was intoxicated at the time and had recently suffered a bereavement. He had also been co-operative with gardaí, the court heard.

Judge Faughnan said he did not want a reoccurrence of the incident and adjourned the matter until June. He also ordered a probation report and community service suitability report, although he added he was making no promises on that.

“There’ll be no reoccurrence,” said Mr Harlowe.

Judge Faughnan warned the accused not to offend again.
