Met Éireann issues ice warning as temperatures plummet in Roscommon 

Temperatures fell to almost minus 3 degrees overnight in Roscommon. 

Temperatures in the county got down to almost minus 3 degrees this morning, Met Éireann has said.

The Mount Dillon Weather Station recorded a low of -2.9C at 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. this morning. Nationally the lowest overnight air temperature was -3.8 degrees recorded at Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel, Dublin at 6:00 am.

This morning Met Éireann issued a low temperature/ice warning for the whole country, warning of possible difficult travelling conditions. The warning will come into effect at 6 p.m. this evening and last until 11 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Met Éireann highlighted that the cold weather could create issues for vulnerable people as well as animal welfare issues.

It said it will be very cold this evening and tonight. Tomorrow morning, Tuesday, could see severe frost and icy stretches. It will be coldest over the southern half of the country.
