The new Cathaoirleach of the Boyle Municipal District is Cllr Sean Moylan.
He was elected at this afternoon’s AGM held in Boyle. The Fianna Fáil councillor was proposed by Cllr Liam Callaghan and seconded by outgoing Cathaoirleach Cllr Tom Crosby.
Cllr Moylan thanked his fellow councillors and said he was grateful for the opportunity to continue the positive work taking place in North Roscommon.
He stated that his focus areas for the next year would be enhancing road safety infrastructure on the N5 and N6, the cleaning of streets and cemeteries, development of a childcare centre in Boyle and a Primary Care Centre in Ballaghaderreen and to tap into the tourist market for North Roscommon.
Fellow first time councillor Micheál Frain was elected as Leas Cathaoirleach. He was proposed by Cllr Crosby and seconded by Cllr Callaghan.
Cllr Frain echoed the words of Cllr Moylan, thanking his colleagues for his election and complimenting them for the welcome he had received in his first year as a councillor.

Outgoing Cathaoirleach Cllr Tom Crosby was praised for his “fair and efficient” chairing of MD meetings over the past year.
He wished Cllrs Moylan and Frain the best of luck for the coming year and reflected positively on the Public Realms works in Boyle, the ongoing works on the N5 and called for investment into towns being bypassed by the new road.
The late Cllrs John Naughten, Tony Waldron and Tom Callaghan, father of Liam, were remembered.
