Oran native and Ballymore CEO Sean Mulryan has been praised for his sponsorship of Roscommon GAA and an upcoming apprenticeship bursary scheme.

At the January plenary meeting of Roscommon County Council, Cathaoirleach Cllr Liam Callaghan highlighted this week’s launch of the bursary scheme.

This will, he said, give young people a chance to train and upskill in the building industry.

Cllr Sean Moylan also welcomed the bursary, saying: “The shortage of apprentices and apprenticeships is a major bottleneck” for the construction sector.

The delivery of large projects like the Ballymore Group's Athlone City plan is dependent on apprenticeships, he added.

Cllr Moylan also said that a project like Athlone City would finally bring the N61 to where it needed to be, making it into a dual carriageway.
