Never 'boaring' at Rathcroghan Visitor Centre

Far from boaring at the Rathcroghan Visitor Centre

Even as the year winds to a close, it is still far from 'boaring' at the Rathcroghan Visitor Centre.

A fantastic and fantastical boar sculpture has taken up residence outside the Tulsk amenity. But we're assured it's relatively tame.

Designed by Dysart native Orla Clogher, it was made in collaboration with Timmy Clogher, with help from Kevin Clogher and Angie Byrne, and was installed at the centre earlier this week.

As well as being a brilliant piece of art, it also reflects the area’s rich mythology and history. A magical giant boar, escaping from the cave of Oweynagat, is said to have thrust its tusks into the nearby landscape and created an impressive set of linear earthworks, known today as The Mucklaghs, Na Muclaig.

The centre expressed its “huge congratulations” to Orla and the team on the sculpture, as well as its thanks to its sister project Farming Rathcroghan for sponsoring the piece.
