New pitches, an athletics track, and a tiered spectator stand are part of major plans lodged by St. Dominic’s GAA club with Roscommon County Council.

The club is seeking planning approval to develop a range of new facilities at its grounds in Gailey, Knockcroghery.

They include a new GAA training pitch complete with GAA goals, ball stop nets, 20 metre high LED flood lighting and a digital score board, along with the development of a new astro pitch.

The proposals also involve a new tiered spectator stand at the new pitch, new training areas and new 20 metre LED flood lighting around the existing main pitch.

As part of the ambitious development project, there are plans for a new athletics running track, involving long jump and high jump areas, complete with lighting.

The club also wants to develop a new biodiversity and sensory garden area, a new pedestrian walkway, and a new car parking area.

A new uncontrolled pedestrian crossing and traffic controls are also planned.

County planners are due to make a decision on the project by November 6th.
