Night time restrictions will remain in place on the Castlerea public water supply this week to ensure a normal daytime supply for all customers Power outages caused by Storm Isha resulted in outages in the area and nighttime restrictions are now necessary to allow reservoir level recover.
The restrictions will continue from 7p.m. each evening until 7a.m the following morning until further notice. As a result of the restrictions, customers on the Castlerea Public Water Supply may experience reduced pressure and/or outages at nighttime.
Ger Greally, Uisce Éireann’s Water Operations Lead, said: “The majority of our customers in Co Roscommon impacted by the recent stormy weather are now seeing normal supply returning. In Castlerea, overnight restrictions will remain in place for a number of days to allow reservoir levels recover.
“We thank impacted customers for their patience as we work to restore normal supplies. We would also like to acknowledge our water services crews who have worked diligently over the last few days to resolve these issues.” “We are also reminding the public to check for leaks on outside taps or in sheds and other unoccupied premises, and report any leaks they see in public areas so that they can be prioritised for repair.” He also appealed to homes and businesses to help conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible. Further information on water conservation is available on our website at www.water/conserve.
Customers are also urged to check water.ie and or report loss of service or visible leaks to assist Uisce Éireann to identify bursts. Live updates on outages are also available on X @IW_Care.
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
