The occupant of a dormer bungalow outside Boyle narrowly escaped injury when a truck crashed into the living room of the house this morning.

Part of the house near Grangemore on the Frenchpark Road has collapsed following the collision.

Fire crews successfully extricated the lorry driver from the cab of the lorry which was wedged in the front room.

The man was brought to Sligo hospital by ambulance for the treatment of injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

It's understood the occupant of the house, who was upstairs at the time, wasn’t injured but is believed to be very shaken following the incident.

Roscommon Chief Fire officer John Keane paid tribute to the work of the fire crews from Boyle and Ballaghaderreen, gardaí and ambulance personnel during what was a significant emergency response.
