A substantial lakeside estate in west Roscommon has emerged as a prime property of interest in Oprah Winfrey's search for an exclusive Irish retreat.
The world-renowned broadcaster is understood to have taken a particular interest in an expansive holding near the Mayo border, possibly in the Ballinlough area.
Alongside the Roscommon property, the television star and entrepreneur is also understood to have viewed two additional locations in the west, including a property in Cong, Co Mayo.
It’s understood that the media icon arrived into Ireland West Airport Knock this morning, Monday, and a real estate adviser is travelling with her as she views several select properties across Counties Roscommon, Mayo and Galway.
There is speculation that County Roscommon may emerge as the preferred location should she decide to establish a private retreat in the West of Ireland.
Winfrey will be in Dublin this evening for her sold-out appearance at the 3Arena.
The one-night event, "Up Close With Oprah Winfrey," features an intimate conversation hosted by David Meade, with a special musical performance from Niall Breslin before Winfrey takes to the stage.
