Packed programme of events as sun shines for Elphin Show

This year's 45th Elphin Agriculture Show got underway this morning, Saturday, August 31st at Elphin Mart and surrounding grounds.

This year's shows includes showing classes for horses ponies, donkeys, cattle, sheep and goats, as well as farm and garden produce, pets, poultry, handcrafts, photography, cookery, the dog show and many other novelty events. This year’s total prize fund is €40,000.

Other attractions at this year’s show include jiving lessons from Gerald Butler and jiving competitions for young people, the Bonny Baby Competition, Elphin Little Miss and Master, Parent and Child look-alike, Miss Teen, Glamorous Granny, Most Appropriately Dressed Lady and Gentleman, Trade Stands and lots of free entertainment for children.

The Elphin Show monster raffle will also be taking place, with over €2,000 in prizes, including a weanling heifer as first prize. Tickets are €10 or three for €20.

Chairperson of Elphin Show, Tommy Gormley has thanked everyone involved in sponsoring this year’s Elphin Show.

The show chairperson has  extended his gratitude to Minister Heather Humphreys and the Department of Social Protection and Rural and Community Development for a grant totalling €8,350 that was provided through the Irish Show Association.
