Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the death of a male pedestrian in a road traffic collision last night, Tuesday, near Balla, County Mayo.

Shortly before 11 p.m., gardaí and emergency services responded to the collision involving a car and the pedestrian on the N60 at Carrowntober Oughter, Manulla, near Balla.

A male, aged in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.

The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place. The scene is preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They are also seeking any road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were traveling in the area at the time of the incident to provide it to investigating Gardaí.
