Plans submitted for 31 apartments in the county

Plans have been lodged for the construction of 31 apartments, 40 parking spaces and 62 bicycle spaces in the Cortober area of North Roscommon.

The ETAPCP company is seeking planning permission from Roscommon County Council to build the apartments in two residential blocks at Drishoge, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Roscommon. The plans comprise 21 two bedroom and 10 one bedroom apartments, and approximately 489m2 of open space.

The site is located within the Cortober area of Carrick-on-Shannon, which is situated to the west of the River Shannon and to the north of the railway line, within County Roscommon.

The 0.43Ha site is flanked to the north by Hawthorn Crescent, an existing three-storey residential apartment development, to the south by Carrick Town Football Club (and an agricultural road in between), to the east by agricultural lands, and to the west by the local road serving the mixed land uses adjacent to the subject site.

In the documents associated with the planning application, lodged by James Lohan Consulting Engineers, the applicant outlines that proposed development provides for a mix of residential units in block form which replicates the density and layout of the adjoining Hawthorn Cresent development.

The proposed development is within walking distance of schools, retail and community services in Carrick-on-Shannon.

County planners are due to make a decision on the development on or by January 18th next.
