Plans to convert a former school in Strokestown into a home has been given the go-ahead by Roscommon County Council.

Permission was granted by the local authority to develop the The Old School at Cloonfree, Strokestown into a dwelling house.

The plans to bring the vacant building back into use include renovation works and the construction of a new wastewater treatment system.

The school was last used in the 1970s.

The planning permission is subject to a number of standard conditions.
