A public appeal for information has been made in a bid to find a missing 70-year-old vintage sign missing from the rear of the former Roscommon Town Post Office on The Square.
In a social media post, the Roscommon Town History & Heritage Facebook Page has appealed for any information as part of the efforts to trace the missing 'no parking' sign.
“The post office building and surrounding structures including this sign is listed as a protected structure by Roscommon County Council and hence anyone removing this sign can have penalties enforced on them by Roscommon County Council,” the message said.
Anyone who has information on where the sign could be or who removed it is asked to contact An Post or Roscommon County Council.
It’s understood that the 1950s sign was on the original gate before being installed on the current gate in the early 1970s.
An Post has confirmed that it did not remove the sign and acknowledged its heritage value.
