In November, Roscommon County Council refused permission to erect sixty-five dwelling houses at Lisnamult. This application was to complete a previously granted housing development and sought a change to the house design for previously granted applications, the developer, Glenman Corporation Ltd, said.
The council rejected the application on four grounds, saying it would be contrary to the proper planning and sustainable development of the area. It said that if granted the development, which for the most part was located on unzoned lands outside the Roscommon Town Local Area Plan boundary, would undermine the Roscommon County Development Plan’s aim to promote sustainable settlement patterns.
Furthermore, it had not been demonstrated that the proposed development would not adversely affect the capacity, safety or operational efficiency of the national road network.
It also said that if the proposed development was permitted, it would “adversely impact on the residential amenity of future residents and the residents of the existing Abbeyville housing development”.
An appeal by Glenman Corporation Ltd was lodged with ABP on December 19th last and a decision is expected by May 1st.
