The reopening of Church Street in Roscommon Town has been welcomed following upgrade works.
The refurbishment works, which included a new road surface and paving, has now made the street one-way, with parking spaces on one side.
Fianna Fáil councillor Larry Brennan, who co-runs a business on the street, has welcomed the reopening of the street after “much needed public realm works”.
Cllr Brennan thanked the businesses for their patience and cooperation while works were being carried out, and also expressed his gratitude to residents for their understanding during the refurbishment project.
He also thanked the contractor Coffey Construction and Roscommon County Council for working with businesses and residents to keep disruption to a minimum.
“You can't have progress without some level of disruption. I have to say the finished product is top class. Church Street can now hopefully progress as a modern street with a lovely new public realm and a new traffic plan,” said the councillor.
