Roscommon senator makes maiden speech in Seanad Éireann

Roscommon Senator Gareth Scahill made his maiden speech in Seanad Éireann today, Wednesday.

The former Castlerea councillor joined 59 other Senators as the 27th Seanad sat for the first time.

During his address, the newly appointed senator thanked his family and many people for their continued support.

He acknowledged the work and contribution of former Senators Aisling Dolan and Eugen Murphy during the previous Seanad term.

The senator went on to pay tribute to Roscommon councillors and all the agencies who put their shoulder to the wheel to help communities severely affected by Storm Éowyn.

During his speech, Senator Scahill paid a touching tribute to his late political colleagues, councillors John Naughten and Tony Waldron, and former TD and Senator John O’Mahony.
