Roscommon students reach regional final of speech writing competition

Convent of Mercy students, Rebecca Kelly and Kiana Norbury, have reached the regional final of the ActionTalks speech writing competition.

Two County Roscommon students have reached the regional final of the ActionTalks speech writing competition.

Rebecca Kelly and Kiana Norbury, students at Convent of Mercy, Roscommon, have won a place in the regional finals.

The ActionTalks speech writing competition is run by ActionAid Ireland, which works with women and children across the world, as they take the lead in claiming their human rights to build a more just world.

The competition — now in its tenth year — was open to students across Ireland. ActionAid received 112 entries from 20 schools across 12 counties. 

This year’s themes focus on the climate crisis, gender-based violence and unpaid care work.
