Some of the county’s top sportswomen have expressed their support for the county’s first athletic track.

Earlier this month, world boxing champions Aoife and Lisa O’Rourke urged people to buy a ticket for the fantastic fundraiser.

New York–based boxer and Roscommon Town native, Sarah Cunningham also did not hesitate to get behind the development.

During the summer, the Roscommon Community Athletics Track (RCAT) group launched a donation page for the much needed project, a new state-of-the-art 400-metre 8 lane track for the county. The track will be a “hub of excellence, where athletes of all ages and abilities can train, compete, and achieve their dreams”.

The target of the campaign is €1.3 million, and thousands of euro have already been raised.

More recently the campaign launched its ‘Win a Garden Room and Kitchen’ competition. By entering, not only are people supporting a great cause, they are also in with a chance to win a garden room from Lidan valued at €65,000, and a bespoke Mark Lohan kitchen valued at €25,000.
