Rossies hoping brown bread entry will rise to the top

The finals of the ICA Brown Bread Baking Competition gets underway in An Grianán today, Tuesday, July 30th.
The Roscommon ICA Federation will be represented at the competition by Castlerea woman Helen Farrelly.
All ICA members were invited to participate in their Federation heats and bake a brown bread loaf in a 2lb tin using any ingredients of their choice.
Helen, from Castlerea ICA, will represent the Rossies at the event. Three ICA finalists will go forward to the national final of the competition at National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska, County Laois on September 17th, 18th, 19th.
At the National Ploughing Championships the winning brown bread baker will walk away with a cash prize of €5,000 and a NEFF oven, with the three finalists all walking away with a €500 Euronics gift card.
